Are there very many in the US? Not the Century Arms pseudo Galils, but the original Semi-auto ones imported way back 20 odd years ago. Just curious, since I've only seen one in 10 years.

Very few were brought in back then. You will have better luck finding a Valmet M62 for the dollars if you want a first rate AK. I had one of the later Century Golanis and it ran very well, their quality has definitely improved.

Thanks for the replies. The one I've seen and shot belonged to a friend of mine who had one of the original imports. It's in 7.62 and ran perfectly, although the magazines for it are made of unobtainium, it seems. I was just curious if there were any more about.

I have one in 5.56, I'll try to get you some pics some time. I only test shot it. They definitely put some more thought into the "AK" platform, lots of little improvements.

I have one in 5.56 as well. I built the rifle from an original kit on a new made machines receiver. I had IDF markings engraved on the receiver walls to add a little charterer. The rifle is made to function in any conditions and is very hard on fired brass. Being a modified AK,I would have no problems firing steel cased ammo out of it due to it's robust extractor. The rifle is accurate, but no where near as accurate as an AR-15 or a Daewoo K-2. Still,it is fun to shoot.
