Was at one of my pawn shop stops for a surplus check and he had a spam can of 7.62x54r for 235.00 out the door.Is this a good buy?

No, generally it is not. But I'm not familiar with NY and its various laws.

That's about the same price for 500 rounds of new production TulAmmo or Brown Bear so I would say, no.

Use ammo seek to find deals close to you to save on shipping. NY is so crazy I have no idea if you can buy ammo at a gun show?? Or get it mailed to You???
