BARREL stamped to right of sight on barrel /44
NO NOSE CAP
BOLT AND BUTT STOCK METAL= SER.# H 9417 (STAMPED not ELECTRO pencilled!)
front sight stamped m/47 C
ROUND cartouche STAMPED IN BUTTSTOCK broad arrow and 3 numbers above and below arrow. 7.54=stores stamp.
ears for rear sight ground off / and a sight SWEATED onto barrel with opening cut into top hand guard for it!!!! March 3/more info: found h-9417 on barrel and (F) 3/45 AND H 9417 On left side of receiver VERRRRRY faint. WASHED OFF numbers and proof marks by ISHAPORE armory india......also has the INDIAN machine screw thru wood on fore stock. finish after cleaning very good bright shiny bore/sharp rifling
a circle with a "D" indicates draw lapped barrel. no import stamps .

Hi Mr. Tikirocker,

I bought this in August LAST YEAR and just picked it up tonight.

I think it's real. It has the hollowed out bolt head. To tell ya the truth I'm pretty excited to get this.

The receiver (left side) is marked (it looks like its stamped) or in the best electro pencilling I have ever seen:


No 5 MK 1 (F) ...........
10/47 AC 4191
so its made in at the Fazakerley factory in October 1947 serial # AC 4191

The fore end of the stock (on the bottom) is also marked AC 4191 as is the flat part of the bolt nearest the shooter.

The Magazine does not match. It has a serial number X'ed out professionally Like an arsenal would do.

The non X'ed out markings on the magazine are:

B J
O (or C?) 711

Fore end cap- Yes!

Bayonet Lug Intact

There are all kinds of other markings all over the rifle!
