I, have these Lee Enlield#1 mark 1 rifles in my colection. I, have some quesrions.
Two are complete in detail, with correct parts. Two however(note photos) have fabricated rear sight wings(welded sections of metal) and both have bolt head charger guides missing. One has the bolt head assy, charger guide STUD ground off. Where the can I, locate the following(Holy Grail) parts.
I, have been looking for the following parts for years. (ea) 2 rear sight guard wings. (ea) 2 bolt head charger guides. (ea) 1 bolt head assy
, charger guide type. Could a machinest, make these parts and woul it be cost effective? Could parts be molded/cast, say from aluminium pot metal
or even modern plastic? Is, the rifle, with the BRASS stock band, a correct part? Do all my rifles, have the correct artillery, stock mounted sights?
One may have a p-14 discus?
Allways, thankful, for your help
Roy

You might try gunboards. There are a few guys there that have a lot of old stuff. That is where I found the parts for the one I rescued from a local dealer. It was cut down, but had the proper rear hand guard, and the bolt was complete. It had been turned into a GF rifle.

Nice rifles! Mine is a 1907 BSA I***. The bottom rifle has been upgraded to the Mk 3 standard and has the charger bridge added to the rifle. You won't need a bolt head with a sliding charger bridge for that one. Do you mind posting dates and manufacturers on your rifles?

Springfield Sporters lists the bolt heads but not the charger guide. Look at the bottom...

http://ssporters.com/parts/ENFIELD1.htm

I got my sliding charger guide from a gentleman on the old Jouster Lee Enfield forum. It moved here:

http://www.milsurps.com/forumdisplay.php?f=72

Never hurts to ask around....

I noticed the brass barrel band is BA mark. Should mean it came off a Lithgow made rifle.

Roy,

The bottom rifle if marked F.T.R. means it went through Factory Thorough Repair at some point. Sometimes there is a date after the F.T.R. mark. That was probably when it was upgraded to Mk III configuration. The rear sight was also changed in the upgrade.

Parts were replaced with whatever the armorer had so that is also most likely where it got the brass barrel band.

Thanks for posting the dates and other information. I don't get to see many Mk I rifles. You have a very fine collection.

G'day Roy,

Lovely rifles mate, I've only just come to this thread and late too ... I'll have time to go over it later tonight and see if anything has been missed from what has already been said.

Best, Tiki.

Springfield Sporters has some No.1 MKI parts listed at the bottom of the No.1 MKIII parts listing.
