No pics to ponder yet.

Seller claims matching numbers on a "hand select" option from Classic several years ago.

Said he cleaned out the cosmo, fired it a few times and stored in the safe.

No sling or cleaning rod. Including a box of Hornady "match" ammo.

Peterson page 499, 9th edition- 2020, of his guide Standard Catalog of Military Firearms indicates these values:
He does not make a distinction between the M48 & M48A for valued Fair $200, Good $300, Very Good $400, Excellent like new $500. I have seen what one would consider pretty nice ones with excellent bore go around $450-500 at todays prices at WI gun shows. These are not in a condition I would call mint, but the bolt matches on most I have seen back in the day. Nice, but not cherry mint. And no goodies. This is somewhat crazy given these were originally sold for 79-99 bucks. Mitchells had theirs around $579/700. Really crazy!
Gun broker seems to be way up around $500-700 which is just crazy. I got one of each which are like brand new from Fleet & Farm when they were $99 from Century. Condition was their code "excellent" in the box with bayonet not matching to rifle serial number, cleaning rod, sling, and a cleaning kit. Nice average shooters. They got a heavy well grained oak looking stock. What collectors were searching for were trench art carved stocks, not like new rifles. This kind of art: ... t.1081554/
On line grab of M48 wood in lower photo:
I have not looked at these in 15 years. Maybe I will pull one out and take a few pictures. I guess I should have purchased them by the dozen.   :snooty: :snooty: :snooty:

Classic has their dogs at $500. So Peterson may be regionally low by $100 in each category.

I figure he may have paid dearly if it came from Classic, say $400 give or take.

Mitchell's old prices from a few years back:

On flee bay there are lots of original slings and cleaning rods, you should figure around -$50 to get original replacements. $25/30 for a sling about $20-25 for a rod.

I think my last one cost me a Ruger LCP. Wife hated the gun but another guy wanted it for his wife and had one of these sitting in his safe. His wife was happy and I got another gun out of the deal so a win for everyone.
