What is the best way to post pics? I looked up the FAQ, I have an old photobucket account I could start back up I guess, but I saw something about being able to upload an image if allowed by the admin, I’d rather do that....unless I haven’t been here long enough or whatever. At any rate, I’ll be checking on this thread and will get the pics up either when allowed to upload or if I need to use a hosting site....which I’m not fond of, but will do if necessary since I think this is important to compare details and get more information out there on these rifles.

Mine appears to be early Mauser parts in that the parts are milled after review of information in Kriegsmodell volume 3.

Do not pay for photo bucket. Their pictures have a logo on them that looks bad and if the account goes down or ends the photos disappear form the history of the forum and the post is useless. Your photos are important records to other readers. See this post:

http://www.surplusrifleforum.com/viewto ... =79&t=2203
Post your photos by the forum method. You have a 5 limit per reply. However, you just add a another reply with 5 photos for each entry/reply. Put/store your photos on the desk top, a file, or cloud. Then Use the forum method to post, record, and save the picture in a permanent storage on the forum- the pics stay in the text.

How to do this. I always wanted a mod to write this but here is a try at it as a tutorial. :shhh:
Go below and you will see the Options/Attachments box.
Screen Shot 2019-10-24 at 8.12.19 AM.png
Screen Shot 2019-10-24 at 8.12.19 AM.png (17.79 KiB) Viewed 3602 times

Click on Attachments. You should see this:

Screen Shot 2019-10-24 at 8.13.59 AM.png (17.04 KiB) Viewed 3602 times

Click on the Add files box. You should see this. It will show you the files on the computer and look different on each computer. I have a Mac. I store photos to post on the desk top or in a file on the desk top. You must select the location on your computer of the files you stored that contain the photo location so you can access them, For example, "DESK TOP"

Screen Shot 2019-10-24 at 8.18.48 AM.png (64.18 KiB) Viewed 3546 times
Next click on the photo of the file or single picture of the photo you want that is shown on the computer screen. After a file is opened showing more photos or a single photo. You must select the single photo you want house/post and it is highlighted and ready to be Choosen/selected to post.

Screen Shot 2019-10-24 at 8.24.54 AM.png (86.32 KiB) Viewed 3602 times
In the lower right corner of the screen display you will see a display box that has Cancel or Choose. Select/hit the Choose button to select the highlighted photo.

After hitting Choose you will see a FILE NAME box appear with can image code for example IMG 1346JPG
Screen Shot 2019-10-24 at 8.27.15 AM.png
Screen Shot 2019-10-24 at 8.27.15 AM.png (29.47 KiB) Viewed 3602 times

Notice I have 5 photos selected at this point in my post, so I have to post what I have and continue in a second post in order to post more step by step photos.

I have to be in the Full edit mode to post photos. so instructions continue.

To add more pictures you go back to the Add files box click on it and repeat the selection process till you have 5 or less photos appearing in the lower file box. Select another photo, the second photo is chosen and that adds it to the inventory of selected photos. the lower photo shows 2 photos in the File Box. remember ( select the photo on the screen, click on it to highlight it as the selected photo to post, then Hit choose, you can add up to the 5
photo limit).

Screen Shot 2019-10-24 at 8.33.02 AM.png (35.58 KiB) Viewed 3601 times

After you hit the Choose button again, the second photo appears in the File name box. Be sure to check the status box to be sure the file is valid and a GREEN CIRCLE WITH AN ARROW is shown. If its red you got a bad image for some reason. This will not post unless it is given the green go symbol.

Now lets post our two selected photos. You can do 1 to 5 in each reply. There is a 5 photo limit for some reason. When you have all the photos selected and they show up with the green arrow status you can post all in one spot or each individual photo at specific locations in your post. In this post, I posted photos as I needed within the text. I could have posted all at the end. So first you select a spot in the text of the post with the mouse. Then go down to the file box and select the photo you want to inserted at this position in the text. Hit the Place inline Button and that photo will appear as an attachment code in the text at the spot it will be displayed. For example, it will look like this for the above last posted photo.
Screen Shot 2019-10-24 at 9.20.30 AM.png
Screen Shot 2019-10-24 at 9.20.30 AM.png (28.88 KiB) Viewed 3601 times
To have a correct order the pictures selected 1 appears at the bottom. The next is above the first entry. Hence the order is from 1 to 5 going upward toward the top listing. The bottom image is the first selected, and the last image is at the top. See order of selected images. This is the way they show up as you select the first 3 .
Screen Shot 2019-10-24 at 9.23.28 AM.png
Screen Shot 2019-10-24 at 9.23.28 AM.png (48.29 KiB) Viewed 3601 times
So to post photos in the correct order you start at the bottom lines image code, locate the sport in the text, Hit the Place inline button, it shows up as and attachment code. Then move to the next upper photo image working your way up to the top inserting photos into the text. To delete a photo just hit the Delete File button.

So this is how I post photos one by one into the text on a Mac. Different computers may show different screen views, and there are short cuts you will learn as you go. However, this is a basic outline of how to post a photo. I most likely will re-edit this so it becomes more clear. What you read is sort off the top of my head.

I’m having trouble with one of the pics, I’ll retake it when I get home. But you can see a good representation of the rifle. The top of the receiver is scrubbed completely. Again, all early appearing parts, the rear sight base has what appears to be a serial number and waffenampt (1028, with waffenampt above). There’s remnants of a serial number over the rear band as well, but the H band is scrubbed. The Yugo serial number is present on the receiver, barrel, bolt, trigger housing, floor plate and stock and they all match. Since there’s no crest, I’m assuming this is some kind of foreign contract Yugo maybe? Like the BO guns? Just not sure. The screws measure 7 and 7/8 apart on the action, so it’s not shortened of course. 8mm. Loves the S&B ammo, soft point and FMJ. I didn’t take pics of the barrel internally, but rest assured it’s shiny and has no signs of pitting. The hand guard and stock have differing “internal” serial numbers when I took the gun apart, I can do it again and take photos if interested, but just confirms to me this was simply a probable early war German gun, probably a mish mash of early parts, scrubbed off Nazi markings, new barrel, stock sanded given smooth contours of wood, all major parts serialized, and reassembled and reblued.

I’m guessing early to mid 50s, or before the Yugo 48 shorter rifles. Again, just speculation. Any ideas are greatly welcomed.

Osujack Thank You for the photos. Could we have a micro close up view of the left side of the receiver with the stamp "1 TZR" Also a view of the bolt handle markings. This may be a fantastic specimen! Almost too rare to shoot.

Here we go, took a few photos of the underside of the bolt handle. It’s a bit fuzzy, I’ll see if I can do better

Not sure what the faint circle outline is under the take down disc and above the “1.TRZ” on the stock. Also, I saw the same triangle shape behind the trigger guard on the other specimen in this thread. And the pic of the bolt release is just showing the strange symbol I found on top of it, could be remains of something scrubbed, not sure. I haven’t shot it much, but when I do, it’s capable of some amazing groups. I have a 200 yard and 300 yard range on my home range, I’ve been to 200 with it, but haven’t had it on the 300 yard bench yet. At 100 yards I have hit the small 1/2 pound tannerite targets with ease.

So, I saw some mention of value earlier, but I’m sure it just simply comes down to notoriety, condition, and whatever someone is willing to pay. Is there becoming more of a market for the Yugo rifles now, especially these K98 varieties that are closer in build to the original Germans? Aside from mismatched original parts and whatnot, to me these are high quality and all new guns that have been rebarreled and head spaced, and in terms of performance would rival even the best Nazi era K98. But, this is my only example of a K98 Yugo, others may not have similar results. And if the value is that considerable, I might leave this in the safe and look for another Mauser to shoot!

You are freaking me out. Your rifle is how you define RARE . I believe there are only a few reported Yugo K98s with that stamp. So cool. Thanks for the pictures. My two Yugo K98s are shown in this link that I posted earlier in your post: see page 1.

http://www.surplusrifleforum.com/viewto ... =13&t=1911

If you want a shooter get a common RC or a Mitchell Mauser. You my fellow surplus guy own a WINNER.

Thank you, 72usmc, I appreciate that information. You definitely have spent lots of time and have done considerable research regarding Mauser rifles. I myself am just beginning this journey as far as research and improving my knowledge regarding this topic. I have a varied collection of firearms, but I am so intrigued with all firearms (especially milsurps and old revolvers) that I’m afraid I have yet to dedicate my attention to one topic such as this...

Other than this thread and the information you directed me towards, are there any other valuable sources of information that would help to identify these 1.TRZ labled guns? I don’t wish to sell mine, it will go back into the safe with my other milsurp finds, but I am curious.

I bought this rifle for $400 at my local gun store. They didn’t have any idea what it was, they thought it was a mish mash of parts that someone had serialized. I could tell it was in great shape, and it just has that “look”. Anyway, I’ve probably rattled enough, but I’d love to have explanations for the triangle symbol and other items.

Thank you for the recommendation on the book! I have it coming now. I’m building a pretty significant library now regarding milsurp guns
