Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Yugo M48 with a little art work.

#1 Post by Candyman » Thu Jun 08, 2017 7:16 pm

Here is one of the Yugo M48's that I picked up back in 2009.
It is all matching, shows a little use and has some cool art work on it.

The carving is the coat of arms of croatia.

Love the artwork on the butt-stock, be cool to find something like that nowadays.

Beautiful rifle with a lot of history of War in Balkan behind or background.
The letters- abbreviations are ZNG which means ZBOR NARODNE GARDE. Croatian military forces in 1991, at the first beginning of the war.

ZBOR NARODNE GARDE: National Guard Choir (Corps)
The National Guard Choir was the name for the first military power of the modern Republic of Croatia.
Croatian President Franjo Tudjman signed the Decision on the Organization of the People's Guard Tribunal on April 20, 1991, creating the first army in post-Yugoslavia Croatia.

This unit was formed within the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Croatia, under the command of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Croatia.
The first ZNG brigade was presented to the Croatian public at a special ceremony on March 28, 1991, with a parade of flags to soldiers and laying an oath at the Zagreb NK Zagreb. Up to 12 August, four brigades were formed. The Croatian Defense Forces up to this time numbered about 60,000 members, of which 30,000 were under the command of the Interior Ministry.
The National Guard Committee was formed in response to the rejection of the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) to secure the existing Territorial Defense of the Croatian Forces that would break the civil rebellion brought by Milan Martic in Knin within the Croatian police in Knin against the Croatian government on behalf of the Serbs in Croatia.
On 3 November 1991 the National Guard Guard was officially renamed to the Croatian Army (HV).

Very interesting. I seen a crate for yugo SKS's for sale at knob creek in the spring with similar carvings in them. I wish I would have had the funds, one would have came home with me!
