Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Swiss Vetterli M78

#1 Post by Roger Dunn » Mon Jan 15, 2018 5:01 pm

I bought a Swiss Vetterli M78 after doing a lot of research I thought.
I slugged the barrel and the bore dia. is .422 not the .429 that I expected.
I have slugged the barrel from both ends and it is .422.
I'm making a bullet mold for it.
Has anyone else run into this I haven't seen anything online about this.

I finished the mold and paper patched the bullets.
Ammo loaded and ready to go.
Just need a little break in the weather.

Have you managed to shoot your Vetterli yet?

How did it go with your loads?

Shot a friend’s ... and LOVED it! Have no need for anutha caliber, or rifle for that matter, but shooting that vintage gun was a hoot!

We look forward to your report!

It was great shooting.
I loaded it light and at 50 yards it was right on target.
I only made 20 casings but have another 30 ready to fire form.
Hope to get out this week to shoot it again.

If you get it out this weekend, would you mind taking some pics and post them on here.
They are interesting rifles

I've got a M69/71 made in 1879 if I did my math right. They are truly unique weapons.
