Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

A M1911 rifle, reloads and my wife....

#1 Post by Rapidrob » Sat Jun 02, 2018 6:08 pm

I'm lay'ed up for a few months due to a fall and my wife Elaine is filling in for me shooting a few matches. This month is a WWII match and she is using my M1911 rifle and 150 grain reloads as the match is Rapid-Fire at 300 yards. She has never fired this rifle before today. The target is a painted man upper torso silhouette on AR500 5/8TH's" thick steel plate.
The 1911 has to be one of the easiest rifles in the world to reload FAST!
Once Elaine found the zero with the 150 grain bullets ( 175 grain normal for my loads) she pounded the target with 10/10 hits! The group was under 6".
I think the family honor is still held high.
Woman are such good shots and students. I'm very proud of her.

Let us know the match details....it is going to take a lot of dedicated practice to beat that 'ringer' you have filling your place on the firing line. ;-)

Hi - I have never done anything like this but it sounds interesting. Off hand I would never even think of being able to do this. Especially if it was one second max per shot. Heck, I'd feel lucky for a 24 inch group. Really, can someone tell me the ground rules for something like this? I could try it just to see.

"Rapid fire" is not that rapid ( 1 shot per second ). NRA 300 yard rapid fire description:

Rapid Fire, 10 rounds prone - 300 yards in 70 seconds

Ah...thank you. I just saw in one article that European ‘Rapid Fire’ was 2 seconds per shot...just this one input. But it didn't mention yardage.

Oh, by the way, when I say that I don't think that reloads should be made for or used by others, I exclude family. Sorry about that.
