M1903 w 20 rd magazine

Back during WW1 a 20 rd mag was developed for the '03. Some called it the "Air Service". The war was over before they really became ready to be issued.
Here is one fitted to one of my rifles.

Ahead of its time ... in a 'tacticool' kind of way. However, it could have been of benefit to scoped rifles, less the mag being too tall for the shooting position/rest.

Noticably heavy, but no worse than say an M14

Interesting as mauser was doing a similar thing with the Gew 98.

After firing off a few rds, you are not sure how many are still in there.
This 20 rd is a extension, the rifle will hold 25 total!

I had onr they work great 25 rounds is a ton of fire power sold my mag for $250 or so
