I'm holding a Turkey Shoot for the match this month at turkey targets set to 385 meters. The weather was supposed to be windy today and it was. Wind was constant at 25 and gusting to 40 MPH.
I decided that a heavy bullet would be the way to go. I took my '96 Krag rifle 30-40 with 200 grain RNFB FMJ's. I tried a load I worked up using surplus IMR-7383 powder.
The load burned cleanly and was very accurate. Hitting the target was easy to do and the strong wind didn't effect the heavy bullet much.
We will have several practice matches before the end of the month's scheduled match. The Krag rifle is fun to shoot and accurate at the longer ranges.
