Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

The US M1917 is a heavier rifle with a longer barrel. Both work to reduce recoil.

Love seeing on brought back from the hands of bubba!
A question for some of the more learned members, As far as replacement barrels went, were the companies making rifles during the war making barrels at the same time just for future refurb? The reason I ask is in case I run into another 03A3, I notice most have wartime barrels, and apart form dating by serial is there any other way to know if it is more likely than not original to the reciever?
