I'd have to say, for a Husqvarna to shoot better than my 1903 CG 96/38, they'd have to be going through the same hole. Mine still shoots sub MOA at age 115.
Still...I'd be willing to give one a try. :D

I think as a whole the civilian FSR Husqvarna m/96s made in 43 and 44 were made to tighter tolerances than the CG made for military counterparts. That doesn't mean that there aren't some fine shooters among the CGs. I also have a completely original military 1924 CG m/96 that has gone under m.o.a. a few times also. I've never seen a Swede that was a dog. The worst bore in my safe, a gorgeous elm stocked 1915 CG m/96, a true #3 barrel has come darn close to m.o a. Heck it's probably my favorite shooter.

That looks nice. I guess I am not skilled enough to tell the difference between elm and walnut. Still very nice looking.

Here's an elm stock, some people might think it's oak, very coarse, open grain and heavy. lloydiam's stock looks like beech.

That is a nice looking rifle. Thanks for the pic.

I'd have to say, based on the grain pattern of your rifle, and looking at lloydiam's pictures, I can see a similar course grain pattern to his stock, just much darker. It almost hides the grain, but I can still make it out slightly. Just my observation.

One thing about elm is it's open grain which I don't see in lloydham's stock. If that's his Husky built m/96 it will have a beech stock if original. Elm was only used from 1915 to 1917. Beech was standard after that. Beech is also seen on many rifles with replacement stocks

Here's some good info from a great place to learn.
