Hey all I got my first Carcano its a 91/38 someone has removed the bayonet lug so I just order one from ebay my question is do I have to remove the front sight to install it it appears in the picture to be open one the top side . Thanks

If it's the short rifle ( I *think* that's what you mean) original front sight, the bayo lug mount should slide right over it.

If it's a taller sight like sometimes seen on the Finn short rifles, you will have to drift it out. There's a screw under the front sight that holds the band on the barrel. Back that out & tap the ring away from the barrel.

If you have a TS, same drill - try sliding the bayo mount over it & proceed as above if that doesn't go. Ren
