Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Swedish Carl Gustafs M/41B sniper rifle

#1 Post by Miller Tyme » Wed Oct 25, 2017 9:30 pm

From time to time in ones life you reach a crossroads where you decide to follow a different path, so after years of collecting Mosin's and this rifle represents a slight change in direction.

It's a Swedish M/41B sniper rifle produced by Carl Gustafs in 1916 mounted in a beech wood stock and handguard. Matching scope mount with an Ajack 4x90 scope mounted, the scope is Swedish crown proofed, serial numbered 2134 and dated 1942. Matching serial number parts includes both upper and lower band and bolt body. Bolt shroud assembly, floor plate, bolt release and cleaning rod are non-matching. This one came with a scope can, leather sling, front sight protector, muzzle cap, double oiler, an M1896 bayonet with scabbard, a leather belt frog, and 200 rounds of M/41 surplus ammunition.

After years of collecting Mosin's it should be interesting to start a new chapter in my firearm collecting.

Should be a crown with a letter under it normally an S on the stock behind the trigger guard, most of the time on the barrel near where it meets the receiver under the wood. Scope, mount, etc. last worked on in 1969. The best WWII bolt action sniper rifle hands down, you'll never think as highly of a Mosin sniper again.

Watch out for the screws that adjust windage, they are fragile, don't over tighten them. The rods never match.

Congrats, you'll love it once you get it zeroed. They have a vintage sniper match in Paris TN, kind of near you, every third Saturday of the month at the Henry County Gun Club, I believe you know a few of the regulars. I show up every once in a while, I drive about 150 miles one way. Great range, good friends.

One of my club's members has one identical to yours. With 140 grain bullets or original ammo it shoots very well out to 800 yards. With a little training on how to hold the rifle most shooters can do well with the rifle at hitting a man sized target.

Thanks gentlemen, expanding my collecting field has added a much needed spark to my collecting.

Sheepdawg, I am trying to clear my schedule to go the the shoot in Bowling Green, KY next weekend. Probably won't shoot ,have what I believe to be a cataract on the eye that is giving me fits, but am planing on meeting up with one of our mutual friends that goes to your Paris shoots.

Great new direction. It's hard to beat a swede and the M41 snipers are great. It's a softer shoot than the mosins and a great rifle for reloading.

Wow, that's a nice one. The scope cases are climbing up in price.
