A spur of the moment buy, this was $100, cheap I think, as I know little about the Italian carbines. One side of the mag is EP'd, may have been used by the Finn's??

I pick it up in a few days, I have these pic's to go by. M38?

Yes , it's a M38 short rifle. It looks like it has
the boxed SA on the receiver which means it
was in the Finnish army. If the bore is good,
it was a very good buy.

Picked thi sup this AM and have had a opportunity to look it over. Made in 1938, nice bore, stock has been sanded but I think that's typical for all Finnish M38's. Ammo is spendy, I'll pick up a box for display, hope to find some newer production to shoot.

Never owned a Carcano, but I believe you got a great deal--would have jumped on it myself.

Looks like you did great! Much better condition than the one I bought.
Is yours 6.5 or 7.35? I ordered online from Graf and Sons.

Its not easy to find a decent Carcano for $100 anymore so I think you did really well even with the refinished stock. Just take a look at the prices on Gunbroker for unmodified Carcanos and you'll see what I mean. I'm not sure if anyone is manufacturing new 7.35 Carcano ammo so you may have to reload for it since Italian surplus ammunition is notoriously bad. The good news is there are components available to reload for that caliber.

The 7.35 ammo I bought from Graf & Sons is mfg by Precision Cartridge Inc. ( I think this is reloaded )

You will also need those cute little 6 round stripper en bloc clips.

Congrats again on your nice looking "Lee Harvey Oswald" special.

A buddy had some 7.35 Carcano ammo so I got to put five rounds through it. It shoots minute of man, more or less  Pretty cool little rifle, maybe I well find a 6.5 sister for it.

I've been looking at bayonets, OMG they are spendy!!!
