Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

CG '96 Swede, 1911 with Unit Disk in stock

#1 Post by KneverKnew » Tue May 15, 2018 9:46 pm

It took me 30 years but I finally found a friend for my 1903 CG 96/38.
It's matching best I can tell, and the brass stock disk is different from all the others I've seen which typically tell the condition of the bore. This one us a "unit disk" or "regiment disk?"
It is marked "A5" over "No 1131." Any way to determine which unit this is from?
These pictures are ones I got from the auction house I purchased it from. I'll take detailed pictures soon.

It shoots M41’s pretty well. A foot high at 100 yards but still groups well. Going to test my reloads soon.

I just bought a swedish1907 husqvarna pistol with A5 stamped on the gun with a rack number(...).
On those pistols the A indicated Artillery and 5 was the regiment number.
Maybe it helps.

Ok thanks. So Artillery Unit 5. Would the No 1151 be the individuals serial number or similar?

I’m trying to look up the information but am getting a lot of different things.

Might be if its the same , and its the regiment number not unit...
If you look up on google gotavapen it explains a lot about swedish pistols and about regimental markings.

Just curious. Has anyone ever seen an M96 Long rifle made by Husqvarna or did they only do the M38 short rifles?

Husqvarna made something like 13,000 m/96s for the FSR in 1943 and 1944. They were very well made and are considered among the most accurate. Husqvarna also supplied the armories with replacement receivers which often turn up on older m/96s and can be identified by the serial numbers being out of sequence.

Thanks. So tell me. How does that M96 Husqvarna shoot compared to regular CG’s?
