I bought this 1891 Argentine Mauser carbine a few months ago. It's clean and numbers matching and shoots great. The nose cap on it looks nothing like any of the others I've seen online. All the others have the protective cap with the ears on either side of the front sight. The gun shop didn't know much about it as they were selling it on consignment. I bought a replacement nose cap from liberty tree collectors but it's not even close to fitting. Any idea why it might be different?

Oh heck, do not let it get you down, just get another 1891 carbine that is original and then get a 1891 long gun and you will have a start to a nice Argentine collection that you will never be able to complete..

I too like the look of those handy make over rifle to carbine Argis. Always look at the rear sight. The true carbine rear sight base is way shorter. More like half the size of the rifle rear sight base.

I had a mint condition rifle that I bought as a teenager but sadly I lost it in a house fire when I was away for the aiforce. Luckily I found the one I've got now and it's almost as clean

I just saw one of these in person at a local gun show.. I really liked the feel and look of this rifle.. If I had not purchased a few other things, I would have picked it up..
