None of the Gew-88 rifles in this country came from Turkey , The Turks had no Gew-88's , only Gew-88/05's . The rifle in the photo is a Gew-88 and came from South America . The Turks also got a lot of rifles from the Czechs for years after the War . Those rifles will have cz marked bolts as they were put together from parts . The bolts were rebuilt and proofed .

My point was he bought a bolt online that he said was not imperial marked. I was suggesting it might be a Czech bolt that came in with a Turk Gew88 - pardon me Gew88/05.

I wasn't suggesting his rifle was of Turkish origin.

Only possible Czech part I can find is the buttplate

Did get a chance to completely strip it down for a thorough cleaning and to take some more pictures. Appears to be all matching (stock, handguard rings, trigger housing, barrel) with the exception of the bolt.

Can't find any import markings on the rifle either, but did they have to put any on rifles prior to the law in the 1960/1970s?

I'll try to take some side by side pictures of the two bolts

Being pre- 1898 it is exempt from being import stamped . Your butt plate is German .

Thanks, can anyone send me the link to a video with the best way to slug a barrel? I'm trying to figure out how to do it but still not confident enough to do it

More photos of the proofs on the barrel would help , but it looks like you have a German barrel . If it is the original barrel you will have a .3118 - .3208, land - groove barrel . It could also be a German replacement barrel . The rifle is showing several update stamps . Without more barrel photos I can not tell for sure . Slugging is easy . First make sure your barrel is very clean and your measuring tool is zeroed , the two most common mistakes that give false readings . Find a SOFT lead cylinder at least .326 dia and about 1/2 inch long . Lube the barrel / slug . Start it in the muzzle , drive it in about 3 inches with a tape wrapped [ to protect the bore ] short metal bar with a hammer . Drive it out from the breach with a longer taped bar and hammer . Measure the tall and short lines on the slug to get land and groove . Clean bore .

Some more pictures of barrel markings, barrel cleaned up really well but does have some pitting

Anyone know what the "x" represents on the barrel jacket
