K98 not have the bolt hit the magazine follower when empty and prevent the bolt from going home?

I believe so. I have a FR8, which is just a Spanish La Coruna 98 action with a shorter barrel and the bolt on it can't be pushed forward after the last round is ejected. All my German K98's have been that way as well so I believe it is a design feature, supposedly to let you know in the heat of battle when you are out of ammo.

Bob, mine does not hit the follower, slides right over it.

Sounds pretty normal to me. IIRC, my vz24, my 24/47, my m48, my Brazilian m1908, Venezuelan 24/30 all function that way. I'd be surprised if the Spanish one didn't do that.
