Found this forum a while back. Great by the way. I dug my K98 out to look at it and compare it to others in the pictures.I am missing something on the stock. That disk on the buttstock is not on mine. Can anybody tell me what it is called? and where can I get one. My 98 is from century. I got it back in 88 or 89 when I still had my ffl. it is clean but shoots well. No markings. must be a rebuild but its more for shooting than collector value. Still would like to fill that hole in the stock.

You have a Yugo M48 not a German K98. No markings means that it was sold to a client country of the Yugos that did not want the weapon's origin known. The "hole" looks to be some sort of a ID disk cut out. Post it (with more pics) in the Yugo rifle sub-forum. I'll bet Painterjohn will know.

I don't think the cut-out is for a bolt take down disk or at least not the common Mauser type. Who knows what a client state might have done but it looks a lot like the ID disk cut-out on SMLE and Swede stocks. If the hole is threaded it is for a ID disk.
