Just what is a Spanish Mauser?

Seems to be a lot of speculation about these? Made in Spain by Spanish gunmaker or what?

I would love to here what the schools of thought are...

A Mauser (Both licensed & non Licensed) made for or used by Spain or its dominions ????

I would even count any Mauser rifles design that was brought in for the Spanish Civil War..

My thoughts on the subject:
A Spanish Mauser: a Mauser made and accepted for use by the Spanish armed forces and police forces. These could be either made by an outside supplier or manufactured within country. These come in many calibers: 7.65, 7mm, 8mm, 7.62 CETME and cover multiple models

THE Spanish Mauser: the Modelo 1893 7x57mm made for Spain my Lowe,DWM,FN and later Oveido. Gained it reputation during the Spanish-American War.

Just my opinion; your mileage may vary.

I guess I did not understand the question. Please educate me so I don't look foolish again

I don't understand the question either. Some were made for Spain and some were made in Spain. Army Cook described it perfectly if you ask me.

Mausers. made in Spain like the M 93,M95 and postwar M43's are truly Spanish Mausers made else where and supplied to Spain would not be IMHO. Moisins supplied to Spain. have not been referred to as Spanish Moisins..

Even guns made else were and then modified by Spain... ? I have heard Mosins supplied to Spain during the Civil War as Spanish Civil War Mosins? ha ha God help us when we start talking about Spanish Lebels :?

Spain must have had almost everything at one time..

I have read in the book about Sam Cummings. that he purchased over a million guns from Spain in the 1960;s. In WWI Spain supplied .32 cal pistols to France. , now called by some
as French Ruby pistols. Collector parlance can be confusing

Also that Ruby Pistol probably is the gun that Henry purchased for himself in the Hemingway's book "A Farewell to Arms"...
