I recently rediscovered way back in a corner about 3/4 of a Gew 88/05. the stock is there, but no hand guards, stock metal or barrel jacket. The action is still smooth and tight and the bore is not perfect, but OK,and yes, the bolt is complete.
I was debating just rebarreling it to a pistol caliber (.45 ACP) and making it a single shot. the project isn't out of my league to do myself, but I'm wondering if it is worth the effort and time. I think that I should have done it before we closed the shop. Any comments would be appreciated.

One day...One day I'm gonna have a 45ACP Rifle...
So, of course, I say go for it...Unless you can get a better buck from a "collector"!

Not worth the time, if you are going to try to make money reselling it, but it would be worth it if it is something that you enjoy doing and would enjoy shooting. I've done that a few times over the years. Projects that would be cheaper to buy, but I wanted to put in the time and work to do it.

You are right of course. I must have had a brain fade, since there is another complete one right next to it now. I must have been looking at a GEW 98 when I first typed the original query.
Anyway, upon reflection, I probably won't do anything with it because of several factors.
Thanks to all for the comments.
