:( There are no English books in print that cover the Lebel , Berthier or Mas 36 rifles in any detail. A few bits of info in all sorts of books, but no primary reference. Kind of like how hard it is to find info on the Carcanos. Too few collect the French goodies. Heck, they are hard to find intact in WI. The Last show had a Lebel at $800, a Berthier carbine at $300 and no takers for both days of the show. If I was not retired and no cash, I would have got both matching rifles. But Obum ma ma has changed the picture. :violin: I could not believe no one with cash picked them up   But lack of cheep ammo, reloading... There seems to be less shooters firing French rifles. If people would shoot one, they would be hooked.  =D>
Best info is on line. Just start printing out the reference information and make your own resource materials. Both this forum and gunboards have some very useful posts with lots of pics on the French rifles- I got 3 binders full of examples and info. The older posts seem to be missing the photos, the links to photo bucket disappear-hence no photos, so print out the good as gold stuff as you see it. You can always try the WAYBACK Machine to see if it was saved and get the missing photos.
Invest in lot s of ink
