Has anyone tried any of the Fiocci match
http://www.fiocchiusa.com/foa/CMS/product_detail_1.aspx?id=4176

or Hornady match ammo in their Ljungman?
http://www.hornady.com/store/6.5-x-55-Swedish-Mauser-140-GR-BTHP-Vintage-Match/

There is a semi auto vintage military silhouette match coming up and I would like to shoot my Ljungmans. No FMJ's allowed.

I've used the Prvi SP's without problem, but with mediocre accuracy.

The Hornandy Match ( Privi loaded ) worked well in my rifle. When these rifles first came in we had to do a lot or research on the ammo and how to prevent tearing the fired cases in half.
After posting the article and beating the dead horse time and time again, I let the info go by the way side.
My notes and targets show the following:
!40 grain bullets shoot the best
Always lube the loaded ammo. The original oil is no longer made. I use Borden's " Slide All". A spray on,dry lube. Brass last a very long time.
I made an adjustable gas valve. It really helps prevent the case mouths from being badly damaged when ejected.
Get new Head Space blocks from Springfield Sporters. All of the rifles have "play" when the bolt locks up.
Many of our shooters do not lube their ammo ( as designed ). It's your rifle, and your face. You decide.

Great shooting, Rob.

I'll order some of the Hornady match ammo today.

I've fired my Ljungmans using Swedish surplus ammo without lubing the cases and gotten a number of failure to extract and/or eject. I now use Elmer's Slide All on the cases.

Do you use the slide all on all ammo that you fire in your Ljungman? I was wondering if it was necessary with commercial ammo. Also, I was thinking of loading 1 round at a time in the Ljungman when using commercial ammo to protect against slam fires.

I lube all my cases. The extraction timing is trying to remove the case while it is still gripping the chamber walls. By lubing I can get at least three reloads out of my brass.

I ended up using the Hornady match ammo. Didn't do bad, but my sight was off a bit.

I fired a couple of the 120 grain Prvi match rounds...tossed the brass significantly farther.

The pressure out of the gas impingement stainless steel tube is really very high. Too high for the type of shooting we do. This rifle was made to handle the Swede's winter cold and summer mud.
Change the port pressure up and things go south real fast.
I made a gas regulating valve out of a metric Allen lock screw and a metric Stainless Steel nut. Even with this 'valve" cranked just about shut, the still rifle functions. I'm now getting the brass laying about 5 feet away when fired and not all banged up by the too high gas pressure/ejection.

Rob, what sort of load are you using? I'm curious because I'm running a 140 amax with 33 grains of 4064, no crimp, just neck tension, and get very mild ejection, cases are about 5 feet away, no dinging of the brass, and I'm not seeing any stretching of the cases....That's all I've ever shot through it. I'm only shooting at 200 yards, so am not trying to knock anything down or worry about trajectory much. Accuracy is quite good, I had to adjust the rear sight to use the lowest setting, spitzer or round nose, I forget.

My load is a little hotter than yours using Reloader-15 and a 139 grain Privi FMJ. My rifle was like new when I got it. It is a late war rifle and the gas system had no wear on any of the ports or tube. My loads are just over 2,600 fps.
The bore is tight as well.
I have no idea why your rifle is so gentle on the brass. Of the rifles I have seen shoot, most are rough on the brass and really throw it out of the rifle.

I have Hakims instead of Ljungmans. Do any of you have a link or reference specifically mentioning lubricating the cartridges?
Very few semiautos and autos required lubing the ammo and in Egpt there is a little bit of sand that can cause problems.

My load is about 2200 fps, so much softer. The hakim's have an adjustable gas system so you can tune them somewhat to the loads, I also run my loads light in that rifle as well and have no problems.

Only the Jlungman has to be lubed. The oil they used cannot be had these days.
