Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

47 Izhevsk 91/30

#1 Post by Miller Tyme » Sun Jan 28, 2018 7:55 pm

It is well known that Izhevsk continued to produce PU snipers in limited numbers up to 1948, what isn't well known is they also produced 91/30 infantry rifles in even lesser quanities. While the production of 91/30's was a by product of the sniper production, from best as anyone can tell is any rifle that was produced to be a sniper and didn't pass muster ( accurracy testing) never got finished as a sniper, but rather as a 91/30, hence the lack of welded over scope mount holes and lack of scope number. This 1947 Izhevsk 91/30 is one of those that didn't make the grade and rather then scrape it the Soviets just finished out as a 91/30. It has been refurbed and is a total mix master, everything a typical refurb is except for its date of Mfg, which makes this "typical refurb" very untypical.

Nice condition and very unusual. I would think the bore would be like new also. Great find.

Very Nice! I have yet to encounter a 1947 dated 91/30 but I have managed to pick up 1945 and a 1946 dated examples, neither one of which are ex-snipers.

What is the date on the receiver tang?
Curious if they ever rebarreled rebuilt guns like the Fin's were so apt to do?

Let us know if you can :)

I've got a 1947 non-sniper/non-exsniper as well. Unfortunately the important part of the tang date is for some reason missing that critical information

That is quite comical to me.
The one thing I want to know about, and some Russian Factory worker is probably laughing in the afterlife because it remains a mystery to me haha.
