I have several orphan stocks too, just no VZ24's. If the bore is NFG, I'm thinking of just salvaging the action for a high quality sporter build. The bolt doesn't match, no provenance, no sentimental value. Finding a excellent to new VZ24 tube would be impossible and besides all that it would just be another put together rifle and I have several of those. When I do one of them I like to use a new surplus barrel. I know I can get all the parts to make it a proper mock up VZ24 for about $150 but I'm starting to think her beauty is in the quality action.

Numrich has NOS Brazilian carbine barrels: https://www.gunpartscorp.com/ad/955300.htm

I've thought about getting one for a rainy day, but haven't yet done so.

It's either an M44 stock or a Polish Wz-29 stock. M43 stocks had the sling bar protruding from the left side of the stock. Most (but not all) of the Wz-29 stocks I've seen have a bolt disassembly disc in the stock. With the long slot for the single band retention spring on the front-right of the forend, I'd say it has to be an M44 stock. If that's the case, the stock definitely isn't a SCW item although the action is. Most likely it's a mixmaster from an importer trying to to their best imitation of Francis Bannerman. Or someone owned a couple of rifles and had no idea which one went in which stock, got frustrated when the handguards wouldn't go on, gave up on milsurps because nothing interchanges even on "the same model guns" (mauser is a gun model and they're all the same... I learned that at a gun store about 15 years ago), donated the disassembled guns to the first person who would accept them, and joined a commune in the foothills of Mt. Shasta. He now showers once a year whether he needs it or not and smells strongly of patchouli oil. All because of this rifle. I believe it's cursed. :D

It's most likely a spanish air force stock. A wz29 would have a bolt cutout and dowels. Need better pics.

You're welcome.

I have a "problem child" I was thinking about rebarreling at one point; never followed up on it, though.

Numrich also sells a nice new k98k profile barrel for $100. The overall length and the last barrel step are approx 1/2" too long for the vz24 but both easily fixed with a lathe.

I installed one on my Greek FN M1930 with the above mods and am well pleased with it. The 5 shot group is 100 yds with m75 Yugo ammo.
