Hi all can anyone tell me if these hand guards have the clip on them that holds them to the receiver by the rear sight going to remove mine to clean the cosmoline off and don't want to break anything I saw that the vz24 has a clip like that thanks Steve

There is a clip between the receiver and rear sight that clips on to the barrel and a screw at the front of the rear sight that has to come out and rear band. Be careful of the rear sight slide as well. If I remember correctly the hand guard has to be turned 90 degrees to clear the slide once its free. Use a gentle touch they crack easy.

Thanks see the clip when I remove the action screws the real problem is getting off the front barrel bands soaking it in wd40 hope that helps any ideas for that

Just take a screwdriver and gently tap the band spring side to side. This will allow it to pop up. Ths wd40 may swell the wood a little, making it more difficult to move.

Spray the area with some Ballistol. It will dissolve cosmoline without damage to the wood. If you don't have Ballistol, try mineral spirits :thumb: :thumb:

Going to use mineral spirits to try to loosen it a bit also going to try a plastic hammer maybe to try tapping all around the front band it's amazing how tight these are

Got it off took about an hour of slow tapping all around the edges but finally came off and nice to find matching stock and hand guard when getting all apart thanks for all your help Steve
