I just picked this rifle up at my local gun shop for a good deal I was wondering if anyone could give me any info on it. All I know is it's a 8mm Mauser.

One point, does the bolt match? Most do not, some do not headspace, most do. I would check it just to be safe.

see this old post and internal links:

E lion 23 = accepted for Czech military. possible sold later to Turkey. Any crescent moons or the rear sight in old Turk script?

B series numbers = third run of 10000 units.

back in the day they were $79 now at WI gun shows you will be lucky at around $200, if the bore is good, has cleaning rod", stock not refinished "as is" beat stock original, and bolt matches= as high as $300. At the West bend WI gun show a guy had one for $350 which is nuts. Did not sell.

I picked up a C block a couple of months ago for $150, with no cleaning rod. $200 is the most I would go for a better than average one.

Mine is a C series, just like the one posted. The cleaning rod is original on mine. Mine was a gift, from a fellow Shooter who did not want the piece after he found out the stock was broken at the wrist.
I found a retired Gun Smith who repaired the stock. It is almost impossible to see where he made the repair. The Bolt spring was weak and I replaced it with a new one. Bolt is not S/N to the original, different.

I may take it Elk Hunting this fall, all 29" of that barrel. I'll use my 308 as a back-up.
