Started with a rough looking russian 91/30. The metal was half paint and half blueing. I started a refininsh and here is what
I did. I will say sorry for the pix in advance. ENJOY I DID! :D

nice work Ron, what did you do to strip the metal down to bare? I think mine would benefit from the same metal strip as I have black paint on top of the bluing.

I used birchwood and casey rust and blue remover to strip. I bought the kit comes with everything
you need to reblue metal.

Nice job on your stock. I re-did a stock in pretty bad shape last year. the shellac was literally flaking off.I used Zinsers amber shellac.I took photos of the stock before I started.I shellaced over the sling grommets and even tried to match brush strokes from the original stock finish (yea,maybe I have too much time on my hands) when you set in front my other 91/30s it matches aresnal refurb pretty well...............

Looks nice. I have a couple of Mosins that I'm going to refinish soon; I got some hematite to add to the linseed oil which I'm going to topcoat with garnet shellac.
