Beautiful, I love trapdoors. I'm in the process of restoring a 1884 that somebody hacked up, its coming along nicely. And yes I do agree 500gn of lead through a 120 year old rifle is fun.

Nice looking trapdoor Dan! :thumb: The 405 grainer is much more fun than the 500 grainer. At least my shoulder thinks so..lol. :D PM me if you need to know about reloading for that rifle.

Once you start loading,we can help you out. I load a duplicate of the 1898 smokeless round. this may be blastphemous to some trapdoor shooters, but I use it. ...trapdoors were in use in many state national gaurd arsenals till WWI,with smokeless goverment loaded ammo, aka 500 govt,smokeless.....Larry................Go with the 500 grner :D

I have some 405 gr bullets I'm going to use with possibly trail boss. But I have a bunch of reloading to do before I get to reload some for this. Plus I went home this week to get my bottom wisdom teeth out and left 45-70 dies at my apartment
