It's a Walther KKW. It looks like it is in excellent condition. The only thing that seems to be missing is the dummy cleaning rod. Are there any stamps or cartouches on the stock?. What's the asking price? I paid $800 for one like it back in 2013, and was happy to get it for that price

Right now the rifle is in route to a store near me for closer inspection....I just got a couple of pics of the stock. the pics are of poor quality...so I can't see much. As soon as she arrives I'll get a better look..I don't remember if there was a rod of not. I don't remember any stamps / markings/ cartouches on either side of the rear stock. Is that a bad thing?

I'm going to work on the price some with seller...It's over priced right now.
Hoping to snag it for between $850 and $900. A fair price?

I'd consider $800 to $900 a very fair price for one in excellent condition with a good bore. The dummy cleaning rod would be a plus, but most of them are missing or reproductions. Common stampings on the stock or receiver denote issue to the Hitlerjugend or RAD (Reichsarbeitsdienst... sort of the German version of the CCC). Absence of stamps does not decrease value, but a the presence of a clean and sharp RAD stamp can add a few hundred to the price.

They are generally very accurate rifles, and are superbly finished.

I've finally seen the rifle up close and personal (again).
She's in even better shape than I remember!
The bore is in great shape!! No cartouches on either side of the rear stock. Everything is looking real good! The seller has agreed to drop the price down to $900 even!
With my C & R license there isn't even a background check! And no sales tax in Oregon!
Do I go for it?!

Loosen the front band to check if the stock was duffle cut underneath. If not and the bore is bright with sharp rifling, I'd go for it before someone else sees it. A nice unmolested and complete example of a KKW is worth that price and more.

You can make a fair reproduction of the dummy cleaning rod from one of the blued reproduction rods made for the K98. Most were not threaded into a nut in the stock, and were just friction fit. They were just for looks, and were never intended to be used. That's why most are missing.

If you have access to a machine shop, you can remake a cleaning rod from the original blueprint.

I was able to get over to reinspect the rifle this morning...

Turns out that the rifle/stock has NOT been "duffle cut" ! She is intact and there is no rust or pitting under the upper handguard!
I can see the glorious cosmoline all over the place in the lower half of the barrel track, in the stock. This bodes well for the rest of the receiver!!!

I've got them down to $900 even..no sales tax in Oregon! No background check or transfer fee with my C&R license!!

Decisions, decisions !!! :) :D  :o
What should I do? I AM SO Confused! :tounge:

Well, if you are not going to buy it, send me a PM with the name and address of the seller.

All Mine! Sorry Benefactor.
I made the decision to purchase the Walther "Nazi" .22LR trainer...
Since I've blown my toy budget for this month, so I had to put her on lay away...

But, She's still mine..in 60 days! Ended up paying $900 even..I feel good about my decision! :)

Just cought this thread. You did great on the price. I have one that is in great shape and has all it's parts. I turned down an offer of $2500 for it.
Every time I went to Schutzenfest, I would bring it and let anyone shoot it. The kids always had a blast with it.

Looks like a Cabala's Gun Library table and tag on that rifle. Cool snag.
