Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

........I couldn't resist buying this one last week: Lee-Enfield No4 Mk1, made in 1944 by BSA.
Bolt not matching.
Well used but that's part of the charm for me. Took it to the range yesterday: very satisfied with it
Some pix below.

If you are getting a 5 to 10 shot group equivalent to a grapefruit or better, you're well on your way. Nice pick up.

Thanks. Will need some practice with the peep sight, since I'm used to mainly shooting mausers-type sights.

The trick is to set your eye up so that the eye relief
just lets the ends of the "ears" almost touch the sides of the aperture (as viewed), then ignore the rear completely. The eyeball "No1 Mk1" will find the center automatically!
I can't be more specific than that because they came in several diameters.

I've never personally seen one with a round cocking knob, before. Kind of unique at least to me.

Not quite right, the problem with that is if you place your eye further forward or back from your previous shot your veiw though the rear aperture is going to be bigger or smaller so placing the front protector ears at the edge of the rear aperture is going to raise or lower the front of the rifle there by altering elevation, you just look though the rear & concentrate on the front sight & your target, your brain will automatically centre the front sight in the centre of the rear, ignore the front protector ears

Just the early pattern No4 cocking piece as used on the trials No4s & similar to the earlier trials No1 MkVI, all manufactures used these on their early No4s including Long Branch & Savage

Yes, just look through the peep and concentrate on the front sight and target. Eye/brain will center your front sight in the peep. How can anyone think you could focus/concentrate on three things at once?

You're missing the point, guys.
Set your shooting position up that way, not shoot looking for the ears. When shooting from the correctly set up position focus on the front sight.

I dont think we are missing the point at all, why set up using the wrong method to start with! sorry but i cant see the point in starting with a bad habit.

What bad habit? I said
I don't shoot that way, I just set up that way to get a constant, repeatable position. Setting a constant, repeatable eye position is bad how?
It worked just fine for me.
