Yippee ... found a PH 5A aperture sight for my SMLE!

Post by DaleH »

... had to buy it from a New Zealand gunsmith, but even w/ international shipping I paid roughly ~1/2 of what recent ones have sold on eBay for. And as a bonus, it was complete w/ the spring and longer screws needed to attach it.

Just need to complete my stock refinishing project so I can finally fire this Lithgow. Oh, the 'washing' of the stock using the 1/3rd each mix of turpentine, boiled linseed oil & vinegar worked great! I felt I had better control when applying it using a light gray (fine) Scotchbrite pad, versus steel wool.

Also bought some Tom's 1/3rd mix wax and will try that. I use Renaissance wax on my collectible antiques, so I look forward to seeing how Tom's lasts on my shootables.

I love that Tom's 1/3 mix, I use it on everything that shoots. I too am looking forward to seeing your Lithgow when you get her finished.

Fine score on a great sight. That pup sure brightened my morning too.
