Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

What to do with this type 99

#1 Post by Renegade360 » Wed Apr 24, 2019 8:45 am

Have this type 99 that was my grandfather's. He most likely got it in trade for heating oil. Stock has been sporterized. Bolt, safety and firing pin all have different numbers. I believe the barrel is chrome lined and bore is in really good shape. AA Sights are missing the wings. Good Steel Butplate
Do I try to find an original stock? Do I sell it as is? Need a hunting rifle in 243 for my son.
Based on the markings, it was built in 43 from Toyo Kogyo 32 series.

It has no sentimental value for me.
Thoughts?

Sell it. The stock will be expensive. Replacing the bolt would add to the cost as well.

I am with Rapidrob on this one. I looked for about 2 yrs for a stock and finally found one. They are expensive and rare.
Unless family heirloom I would sell. Not sure what price would be? Original type 99 are up to about $400 around here!

No EXPERT No family connection, cut up,mismatched numbers, bent bolt, Sell it, The Savage 788 is a fine rifle, and .243 a great caliber .
