Once in a while, something original and unmessed with is still found, like these two from the estate of a recently deceased WW2 sailor, who took them and some swords and a British "Brodie" helmet off a pile in Nagoya in late '45:
Nagoya, apparently a Series 7.
Got a Katana and a very weird cavalry sword that seems to be a German made or inspired contract job.
Interesting.
One has to wonder about the unused British steel helmet...was it captured in Singapore or Hong Kong or Burma? We'll never know. He surely didn't, either.
The 99 is a bit of a rarity, a transition with the drum-shaped bolt cocking piece but retaining the metal butt plate and adjustable but shorter, Carbine-style rear sight.Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.
99 and 38...they're STILL out there!!

Some links to my "mother files", where, if signed in, the detailed shots can be viewed and searched and so on:
I had to buy some cleaning rods. They'd been varnished and cosmolined, but bores were perfect. The deceased owner apparently never fired them. His kids, however, seem to have played with the cavalry sword, which was missing some small parts.
Oh, well.

Not sure how this posting wound up "doubled". I guess I am even more computer-inept than I realized.
