Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Carcano M91/24 attic find

#1 Post by M67 » Fri Apr 27, 2018 5:23 am

Few years ago my friend renovated his family house. So, he invited me to search if is there any military stuff. And I had big luck. One Italian WW2 combat backpack with rolled camouflage tent M29, Italian helmet M33. The best find was short Carcano carbine model M91 / 24. In original condition, but poorly preserved. Wooden parts are very dry, metal parts are corroded. In our area (Western Slovenia), original finds in old houses, attics and barns are still available.
We can easily recognized the model because of shortened M91 barrel with original markings from 1917 and the old long sight. Other parts are marked in year of refurbish. Carbine is very handy and extremely lightweight. It still has bayonet lug for standard M91 Carcano bayonet.

That is a very nice find, I wouldnt think the backpack would be all that common find.

When I renovate I find water leaks and termites

It amazing that this stuff is still found tucked away after all these years. Would love to find something like that, talk about being jealous.

Great find and great save.

Nothing unfortunately. However, I have ITA Esercito WW2 full combat kit and uniform from other attics and old houses.

I will bet you it was left there by an Italian soldier in a big hurry to scurry to the West to escape the Russians. Nice find
