Pics of 91TS nose band please

Post by gi jeaux »

I have a 91TS and it is missing the front sling swivel. It appears that it was possibly just soldered on to the band.

Since they (nose bands or, swivels) seem to be made of "unobtainium" I would like to look at some complete nose caps to see if I could replicate it.

Thanks a lot guys.

Thanks for the response.
The top one. The bottom one is a 91/24TS. I believe.
I just need some clear close up pics of the nose cap area especially, the sling swivel.

I do not own a M91 troop special. However two different versions are shown in the book: The Modified 1891 Carcano Rifle: A detailed development & production history by G. Chelai & A Simonelli with Ralph Riccio 2016, Schiffer Publications on pages 63 and 64. That picture shows an older variation. More are shown on page 66. The M1891 Troop special carbine is discussed on pages 56-68.

Airforce 1 or Ren Hoek most likely have an example that they can get some close up views of the nose cap. I would PM those members and see if they can help. I only collect the Cavalry M38 carbines with the bayonet. They may reply, but a PM would let them know you need help. They may also know where you can obtain the correct nose cap, but that is at least a $125 part.

Thanks guys. I have been very busy and just now had a chance to get back here. I appreciate all of your help.

I have decided to modify Carcano rifle band and solder the swivel onto my nosecap. The swivel part of the band looks exactly like the swivel on the 91TS nosecap and should not be a major undertaking.

Thanks again guys.
