Here's another one of my many bolt actions that I came into. Just like many of them this came to me as a gift to help enhance my collection. Functionally it works perfectly though by appearances it's rather used and abused. The bolt's a complete mismatch but it's been with the rifle for quite some time due to the overall condition of the rifle itself. Looking over it I noticed some kind of marking on the butt plate of the rifle which later turned out to be a WW1 regimental marking that was overlooked by the previous owner. Now that adds much to the history of this piece and shows WW1 usage along with the history of it being Germany's first repeating bolt action rifle.

Can you Id the WW I Unit??? Always fascination that when a war breaks out, no matter how modern production is. There are never enough guns... Older obsolete guns are still pressed into service .

I've got one in similar condition to yours. Unfortunately all the parts match with the exception of the butt plate. It was replaced at some times me with an unnumbered one along with the butt from the wrist back. A very neat repair though.

Very cool. Glad to see one of these old warhorses in working condition. :)
