k98 takedown disc assembly

Post by c141b »

bought a stock and forend set, walnut, new reproduction Mauser from numrich and i needed to install the bolt take down disc assembly. I have a sporterized k98 that i wanted to convert back to k98 look. After looking on the internet i saw some posts on the subject, so i started looking for a punch to flair the disc tube and i came up short. I then remembered i had a grommet kit that i never used. The punch was perfect for installing the take down disc assembly. I used a hammer to hit the punch on one side then the other, back and forth till it looked right. It came out better than i thought. You can see the flair in the tube on the photo. I used a steel block to rest one side and used the punch on the other side.
