I had wondered about that too. If the barrel is original, it may be rechambered to 8mm-06 cartridge.
I've never heard of that cartridge before. I'm going to have to read up on that. I wonder how often that was done?

I heard that after the war there wasn't a lot of 8mm Mauser ammo available and some rifles got rechambered.

It'd be a damn shame if it was one of the few that escaped being converted in Norway only to get over here and have someone do it anyway. Yes, 8mm Mauser ammo wasn't the easiest to acquire for quite a stretch a few decades ago.

Well, I hate to see these old rifles get messed with like that today but, after the war they were cheap and very plentiful.

HAER were converted the ones not converted were Coastal Artillery which are marked K.ART.
