Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

M88/05/34 ?

#1 Post by leadhead » Sun Apr 22, 2018 9:57 am

Does anyone have any idea what a M88/05/34 rifle would be worth? (Ballpark)
It's in really good shape and shoots very well. You don't see much about them.
Thanks for any info.....

You fail to indicate if it is Turk marked or still all intact with matching numbers and no Turkish markings. Or if it has an import mark or not.

Yes, it is Turk marked with a new replaced barrel. Date on receiver is 1939.
It is set up where it doesn't need the clip to load it....you load just
like any mauser. I don't see any import marks.

Since the Turks made that rifle modification , it will be Turk marked . Since it is pre 1899 receiver it should never have had an import mark . As for a price , they are not real popular , all in about the same condition and have .323 groove barrels . $200 to $300 ??

slowbob is right on the money--IMHO these are underpriced for the great shooters they usually are. All I have seen have very nice shiny bores, and that lovely smooth action. Just stay away from hot ammo (such as Turk surplus) and all will be well. You will have no problem with American Commercial ammo (lawyer loads), Romanian
surplus or milder handloads.

I agree....I shoot nothing but cast bullets in all my military rifles and they shoot very well.
Like you said, I can't believe how cheap they go for.

U tube deleted

My Gew 88 uses the inblock clip so I guess it's not a GEW 88/05, just a Gew 88, no Turk markings. And it has the open hole on the bottom. Not sure if it is S marked. I do not think its been out in the last 10 years- forgot I had one.

As per suggested, due to incorrect info it was deleted. No need to spread incorrect information.

The first y tube , the guy is a moron , has NO idea what he is doing . Everything he says is wrong , even to the point of contradicting himself many times . Second one is a little better , some is correct , but much is not . He gets the meanings of all the markings wrong , he just used other incorrect internet sources . He also just flat makes some stuff up . Yes your's is a Gew-88 , it will not have any Turk markings as NO Gew-88's went to Turkey , just 05's . Other than music videos , I have not ever seen anything else on y tube worth watching , especially on rifles . Remember , you are getting info from people who need the .002 of a penny they get from the video watchers .
