A conversion to 7.62x39 I assume.

Yes I think so from the modified ejector. I was thinking of capacity though.

It is a conversion to 7.62X39, quite right. Takes AK mags (modified).

My advice: never do this!

The British modified a few No.5 actions to feed the rimless 7.62X39 and the .280 British round for test purposes. Don't remember for certain but I think these used a similar ejector setup. I don't think those test rifles fed from the magazine.

I've seen similar ejectors fitted to Lithgow rifles converted to various sporting cartridges, either rimless cased or with much smaller rims.

Some used a milled slit , the ejector being an L shaped cross section, others simply a round stub run through the original ejector screw hole.

Partly because, I wanted the gun in 7.62X39 and any other feeding option other than "single shot" was more work.
