Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

100 Dollar Norweagian Krag Carbine "sporter"

I got a "carbine' of Norwegian make in 6.5x55 Swede yesterday for 100 bucks. It has been Sporterized ( Bubba'd for you youngsters)The bore is dark with very strong rifling. The stock is cut, slings and butt plate filled in and a 60's White line recoil pad put on. After getting some feed back on the ...

Re: Late War Carcanos

The 8mm Carcanos were five shot vs the standard 6 shot. That being said you can modify a six shot clip to hold five of the 8x57 cartridges but it is a sloppy hold. As far as we as collectors know, there were never any "proper" five shot clips made for these little carbines and guards issued these ca...

Re: High Standard 22LR cost in 1933

The average minimum wage back then was $475.00 a year. A collage professional may had made $1,250.00 a year. So the pistol was a hefty part of one's monthly income.

If you break a BM59 part in ten years, what do you do then? Go with the M1A

Re: Picked up a Garand faked National match

Is the an 'Air Gauge" mark on the barrel? ( some times a star for the old Star Gauge system)
Many M-1's were used in competition and as written above, were in fact assembled by unit armorers or retired armorers for competitive shooters. You may very well have bought a very nice shooting rifle.

Both little rifles are just plain fun to shoot. Is The Cadet still in .310?

Re: 123 Nosler CC in M96 problem

Bullet is coming apart in the air, i would drop the load down as it reads like the bullet is going too fast for the rifling twist. A slower burning powder will help as well.

Re: FN 1950? 7.62x51mm Carbine find

The consensus is "no one is sure just who ordered them". I milled a taller front sight to correct the high bullet impact at 200 meters. The range was very cold and windy. Snow had fallen and the sun was out. The light was blinding. After three rounds fired I had to put on my sun glasses. The new rea...

Re: 7.55 swiss 175smk?

My long range load is a Sierra Match King 175 grain or the surplus M-118 175 grain bullet over 44.0 grains of Relolader-15. This load matches the sights on my rifle and is dead bolts on the target at 800 yards. It bucks the wind very well and groups right around 1 MOA. I use Swiss military brass and...

Re: Late War Carcanos

I really like the 8x57mm Mauser carbines. I own several and they are great shooters at 200-500 meters. I had to make my own clips as they were issued as single-shot firearms.

You won't believe this is for sale?

A local gun shop is now selling 8x57m/m Mauser ammunition for $45.00 a box of 20 rounds. This ammunition is made in Germany especially for Mitchell's Mauser's rifles!
Got to love it.
