Does the wood looked warped or split IF the stock is cartouched I would resist any alteration IF you have access to a sporter stock , try and install to improve accuracy NO EXPERT

Thanks for your clarification on these At the time ( 1960s) these were the cheapest M98 rifles around Mine was a good shooter

Well if a nice 03A3 floats your boat, 650.00 should go a looooong way to finding one Mitchells did flog around nice shiny rifles for a while They were flashy and lots of them sold Dismayed buyers took a beating on them when reselling them BUT they were as a rule safe, reliable guns
