Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

I was thinking of patching both cast and jacketed .308 bullets to shoot through my Lee Enfields. . . .
This is intriguing. Now I'm wondering whether patching or powder coating might make .284" bullets fly straight through my .287" Spanish Mauser.

Re: Gilding the Lily, Gunbroker Style

I recently took the average of 9 successful GunBroker k31 auctions, not counting this one. The average was a little over $600. What most bummed me out about this auction is what the guy did to the rifle. Among other things he sanded the stock, and cerakoted the metal. Somehow, destroying the collect...

Re: 95 Chilean Carbine

I have a couple of overbore 7mm Mausers: a Spanish m1916 Ludwig Loewe, and a Venezuelan parts rifle -- don't ask. . . . Anyway, both shoot quite well with these: https://www.buffaloarms.com/287-diamete ... -bac287154

Re: Never will I speak ill of the forum members here

I've learned a lot here--and that's made easier to do by the gracious and generous nature of the participants and the discussions. Thanks to everybody who's contributed to my learning! SRF is really a class act, and I'm grateful to see it (us) continuing to weather the recent storm. All best to all ...

Re: Who is making .318" bullets?

That is all Buffalo does , alter Hornady bullets [ they are the easiest to work with ] , crush them up or squeeze them down . Good to know. Thanks. Not to hijack the thread, but do you have any insight about whether this crushing or squeezing does anything deleterious to bullet integrity? I hunt a ...

Re: Who is making .318" bullets?

+1 on Buffalo Arms. I bought some .287" 154-grain SPs from them a few years ago, for use in my Loewe Spanish m1916 with oversize bore. They shoot well (unlike the .284" 139-grain bullets that went all over the place). I killed a smallish hog with one a while back; it did the job exactly as expected....

Re: Reloading 8x57 on the cheap?

I've used Lee dies--both FL and collet--to good effect with the 8x57. Prvi makes good, inexpensive 175-grain SPs that fly well for me, and I've gotten good accuracy (if a bit middling in velocity) using RAD 78 / IMR 7383, a surplus powder RapidRob posted about back before "the incident." (I haven't ...

Re: Night hog hunting

They're a scourge. And according to the Alabama Dept of Conservation and Natural Resources, you have to kill 80% of the hogs on your land every year just to keep the population from expanding (link: http://www.outdooralabama.com/control-m ... feral-hogs ).

Re: Reloading dies for 7.5 swiss

I've been loading (and hunting with) close to full-power loads in my K31 and K11. I full-length size with the Lee dies, and the cases fit (and extract) with the 96/11, the K11, and the K31s. I'm shooting Sierra 165-grain SPs at a bit over 2600 fps.

Actually just ignorant. But thanks, Mark, for the lifeline. And the glimpse into a new world of Mausers to explore. . . . Curious what you used to strip the stock. And are you keeping a photo log of the project? (I've been moving toward fixer-upper sporters lately, and always appreciate seeing what ...

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I have successfully loaded for my k31s, my g96/11, and my k11, using only the Lee dies.
