Re: Dutch Beaumont stock restore project

Thanks for the comments. Here are some shots of the rifle fully assembled. I hope they show up well enough. It currently has about four coats of BLO. The first two coats were a 50/50 mix BLO and mineral spirits. After several days dry time, mainly because I was busy with other stuff, I would buff wi...

Re: Forming and sizing Bertram 43 Beaumont brass

Once I got twenty cases processed and sized over three days, I went ahead and loaded five and shot at 100 yards.
All went well.

Re: Forming and sizing Bertram 43 Beaumont brass

I received the brass back this past week. Than you. The cases did need 1” trimmed from them and After some study I decided to use my drill with a taped dowel to hold and spin the cases as a makeshift lathe. Using various files and sand papers I reduced the head dimension down from the .587” oversize...

Ouch. Yes, I’d say standard velocity will do just fine.

the only thing that is "bad" about the 52, is after all that design and engineering that went into it, for some unknown reason the Czechs got a shot of stupidity and made a cast firing pin instead of a milled one
True. And mine broke. But I replaced it with a better one. All is good now.

Re: My $99 CZ-52

Ok. It’s what I was told somewhere. Just doing my part to spread confusion. LOL. I do know the action is strong from my past load testing. I went a bit hot with some tests but it all held together. I was young and dumb and very fortunate. My max load test pushed an 85 grain Hornady XTP .312 bullet a...

Re: My $99 CZ-52

Thanks. I think you would find the engineering great. They were designed to withstand the power Of The Czech 7.62x25 high power machine gun ammo. That ammo would blow a tokarev apart.

Re: Swiss M-78 Load Development and Results

I retested my 20 grain load of 2400 powder at my local 100 yard range. I loaded three extra to shoot first as fowlers. After the fowlers, I waited a few minutes for barrel to cool and to get my LabRadar set up and organize my junk. I then loaded the five rounds in the tube magazine and got busy. I c...

Why can’t it ... ? And of course I’ve been known to bend a barrel or two. Actually 5, but only one was a modern centerfire. The others are BP replica fowlers and that’s how you adjust to your point of aim from load of choice.
Same here! LOL.
