I have one at the moment and they shoot pretty well. There has been discussions on if they are suitable for shooting some of the "hot" surplus ammo doing the rounds (pun was intended) due to the age of the receivers (pre 1900s) but i shoot mine with reduced loads anyway. Don't let this sway your min...

How's the recoil on that shortened Berthier? Great looking piece, and very different. The recoil is ok, not overly excessive, not much different to any other 8mm carbine Its fun to shoot and accuracy is ok. And they are a little different. Good thing about it is that the 3 round clip reproductions ...

We both are going to the range this weekend to see how it goes. The bore looks good so hopefully it should hit paper.
Never shot one of these carbines before so it will be an experience. I heard they bark a bit louder than the long rifles.
