Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Remmington Mosin questions

At our gun show this past weekend a fiend of mine picked up a Remington made Mosin Nagant rifle. I know the history of the WW1 contract and use by our troops at the end of the war, but have a question about markings. On the underside of the wrist of the stock there are several marks that appear to b...

Re: VZ-52 SHE

The larger bullets did much much better than you'd think. Groups were noticeably smaller at 300 yards. I think using a larger than .310 bullet will really improve everyone's accuracy.

Re: AMMUNITION ACCURACY

I use the Foster Flash Hole De-burring Tool. Not for all loads, just anything that needs to be more than issue accurate. I'm sure you too have been caught up in: Weighing the casings. All the same maker Flash holes unified Same water volume Bullets all same weight Bullets have near perfect run-out Po...

Re: VZ-52 SHE

I loaded up some Sierra 150 grain SPFB bullets that when deep seated and no compressing the powder will fit the magazine. They are .312. I have some .313 bullets but they are too long to load safely.
With the rifling twist of 1:10.5" there will be no problem of bullet stabilization.

Its a great site. Google translate has real problems as the translated words leave a lot to be desired.

Re: Carcano Test Shoot

OK, it does sound like the spring is weak. As for clips, try others. Now for accuracy I found a real head scratcher. I have "several" Carcano's in my collection. None could even be considered accurate shooters even though the bores and crowns are perfect. I have tried hundreds of .264 and .268 diamet...

Re: VZ-52 SHE

I just slugged my rifles bore. After six readings the bore is .312. The lands are close to .309 but not owning a three point caliper my readings are an estimate for the lands. So,the bullets are "land riding" which is not conducive for any great accuracy. I will load up some .312,.313 bullets and se...

I'm going to slug my barrel in the AM and see what the size really is.

Re: VZ-52 SHE

Perhaps. The bullet sitting in the insert has a pretty good jump to the origin of the rifling. That being said, Roy Weatherby's rifles did just that on purpose and they shoot very well.
I would mic your bullets and see what diameter they are as well.

Re: VZ-52 SHE

I have not slugged the bore but will. My groups were not great. If the bore is oversized that would explain the size of the group.

Re: AMMUNITION ACCURACY

I got the first two .22 TCM pistols sold in NM. I had special ordered it way before they wold be released. My pistols does not have the the 9MM extractor as later ones do. I've had no problems with mine in any manner. I was able to order a large amount of original brass and bullets from the P.I as w...

Re: 1912/61 NATO

I have both the long rifle and the short 1912/61. The long rifle does not show the gap in front of the insert as the '95 he posted does.
Both rifles shoot well.

Re: FN49 Argentinian contract? in 7mm.

The 7mm rifles seem to be way over-gassed. The only thing I can think of is with the smaller bore than the 8mm or .30-06 or even the 7.65 rifles, somehow the too large holed gas plug got installed or perhaps our climate conditions are different. I've now seen two other 7mm rifles that go from short-...
