Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Re: Finn 1891 rifle

While I did not win the match, the rifle shot well. The zero with my load was off as the rounds were dropping too low for the sight settings.

Re: Galil Clone

I've been shooting mine for about 15 years now. If I had any druthers about the rifle it is the accuracy. The rear sight being on the removable top cover was not the best design out there, as your zero can wander and at ranges 200 yards or more it is very apparent . My IDF Galil rifle is not as as a...

Re: Finn 1891 rifle

Tomorrow is our first ever Saturday match. The theme is the "Winter War" which is fun and since the Finns used just about everybody's weapons, all the members have a rifle that can be used. Were in a weird warm spell here in NM and it may reach 60F. Not normal for us but you won't see anyone complain...

Finn 1891 rifle

I have a couple books about the Finn rifles used in the Winter War and the Continuation War. I thought the Finn M-39 was the rifle of choice for the foot soldier but there were several references to the opposite. The Finn's loved their version of the M-91 long rifle. The whys were never explained. I...

Re: Teaching my old neighbor how to shoot long range.

Today she got a surprise gift from me with the help of another member,Mike. I built her a 5/8" thick 4 foot by 3 foot steel bullet deflector. It weighs about 500 pounds. This will deflect any bullet under .50 BMG into the ground so she has a safe range. It is set up 100 yards from her shooting table...

I've sailed in -50F in the North Atlantic. Salt water freezes in the air instantly and hits you like bird shot in the face.
Here in the High Desert of NM I have seen -20F.

Re: What long range load works for your Type 38?

I have several hundred of these bullets that were packed in cardboard boxes that contained 6.5 Carcano ammo at one time. They only had the pulled bullets. They all read .2625 as the average body diameter, not the crimp. I've had these bullets for many decades. As for the large bullet,it was the first...

Re: Teaching my old neighbor how to shoot long range.

UPDATE: 12/28/2017 She now has an AR15 carbine with open sights and a scope. The collapsing stock fits her well and she can obtain the proper sight picture. I took a hundred rounds of 55 grain ammo and my reacting prairie dog target and set it to 100 yards. I showed her how to take the rifle apart a...

Re: What long range load works for your Type 38?

I never said the bullet was 140 grains. I have no idea what factory made the bullets but they were bought by me many decades ago as being pulled from Carcano ammo and soft point bullets installed back in the 50's. My calipers have been zeroed using a pin gauge. They read dead on. Since I do a lot of...

Re: What long range load works for your Type 38?

It is a .2625 bore. It was double checked by two digital calipers. I have slugged bores for 50 years now. The rifle shot the 140 grain .262 and .264vround nosed bullets very well. ( original Carcano bullets and Hornandy). I was using the Privi FMJ bullet. I tried one .266 bullet by Hornandy and saw ...
